The app button log

Each app button on this site points to a short redirect link. When you tap it, the redirect sends you on first and writes one log line after that.

Where it happens
Only on go.f80-practice-test-nyc.com, the redirect behind every “Get the iPhone app” button. The pages of f80-practice-test-nyc.com itself set no cookies and run no analytics or ad scripts.
What is recorded
The page the button was on, which button (top bar, page head or exit band), the type of device and operating system, the destination (App Store or this site's free practice), the IP address, the network (ASN) and the rough location derived from it, the browser user agent and the referring page.
How
Server-side, by the redirect itself, after it has sent you on. No cookie, no browser storage, no script on your device, no ID that follows you to another site.
Why
To count which pages send people to the app, so we know which notes are useful.
Where you go
iPhone and iPad: the App Store page of the app. Android phones: the free practice on this site. Computers and anything else: a short page with the App Store link and the free practice link.

Also in each log line

A line can also hold three more things: the time zone that goes with the IP address, the code of the Cloudflare data center that handled the tap, and any extra tags in the link itself.

The App Store link carries a label with this site’s domain. Apple’s reports then show us how many installs came from this site. What happens on the App Store is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

We use the log to count which pages lead to the app. We may compare those counts with app install numbers. We do not sell the log or share it with advertisers.

Not on this site

  • Set cookies or use browser storage to track you
  • Run analytics, ad or social media scripts
  • Ask for your name, email or an account
  • Send your practice answers anywhere: the rounds run in your browser

Note

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles each page request to deliver it, as any web host does. Questions about this page go through the contact page.

Also on the App Store

F-80 runs on iPhone and iPad. Everyone else: the knowledge checks on this site are free, no sign-up.
